Olympic Hotel. Sestriere (TO)
Restyling of common areas, main itineraries and rest areas of Sestriere Olympic Village during the Winter Olympics in Turin in 2006.
The work consists of a restaurant, a nightclub, a new outdoor bar, and access to the rooms.
The restaurant is located inside the Sestriere Olympic Village, reconverted into tourist-lodging facilities. In response to the client’s request to recreate a welcoming and elegant setting, we separated the space through curved “sails”, covered in fabric. The veneer wall separates the restaurant from the adjacent the free-flow bar. The client’s desire to offer its clients a great wine selection gave us the idea to build a caveau where wine bottles are displayed. The construction of furnishings and set up of the venue were carried out by Ingenio s.r.l., a company part of Gruppo Bodino S.p.A.
The club is on two levels, connected through a metal spiral staircase, already in place. The lower level has a counter area and a lounge area with sofas. The counter is placed against the far-end wall, which is curved, varnished in dark-blue lacquer with light fixtures inlays. The two lateral walls are entirely covered with mirrors, which reflect the entire curved line of the counter. The lounge area develops along the full-height walls, lighted by wall-wash spotlights emphasising the wall’s texture. The upper level, used for pre-dinner cocktails and connected to the adjacent restaurant, features tables and sofas. All the furnishings are custom-designed.
